Do you know what The Light Bulb, the Umbrellas, Taxis & Coffee have in common?

They were all ridiculed in the beginning as worthless ideas when they were introduced.

Yeah! Ridiculed.

And despite all that, these things have integrated so deeply in our lives and society that we cannot imagine a world without it! In fact, we adore and celebrate these today — centuries after the invention!

All the great ideas, even for the Geniuses initially started off as a spark — just like in our case. It starts off as a spark, but the major pitfall, in most cases, is that it remains that way!

With our lives filled with distractions, constant running and most of all, a culture of fear — fear of moving away from the status quo, keeps us from acting on it! Nobody heeds to their sparks of ideas and for the majority of the time, it is just plain ignored.

It is indeed a sad state if you think about it! You had a spark that could have potentially changed the whole of humanity. It was such a revolutionary idea that it could have changed everything. But you never took any action fearing failure. Or perhaps you were just afraid that it wasn’t that great of an idea and talked yourself out of acting on it

I know I constantly battle with it.

I’ll be honest. It might not have been a life-changing idea to start with, but started off as a very raw idea and perhaps needed some work. But it could have really helped you, if not anything. Helped you believe in your ideas.

All the ideas need some major initial iterations, some polishing of message, in a way you can present them to the people who need them and most importantly, a peer group with whom you could bounce your ideas off of to further improve it

Well, at least I have many of those!

I have a crazy list of ideas that I tried — like building an inexpensive speed reading assist, a tool that personalizes the right productivity techniques to help you stay productive, content repurposing aid among many other. I still have a long list that requires my attention!

I personally know many folks who have amazing ideas that could actually bring tremendous value and potentially solve many major problems — problems that people would actually pay to get solved. However, the plan is pretty raw and needs some digging into and polishing, as mentioned. It desperately requires an outside perspective to validate and punch holes in them.

At least, I know I have many of those.

So, when I wanted someone to bounce my ideas off, I couldn’t find the right platform. Although there are amazing FB communities or other communities on different platforms, I feel the concept of social media communities lack the personal touch that you need while brainstorming!

Maybe it’s just me, or perhaps this is a genuine problem. But this was something that did bother me. Like always, when I didn’t find what I was looking for, I went ahead to build one myself.

Enter — Idea Kakoon.

Idea Kakoon is basically a newsletter and an experimental community development concept. I feel it could personalize the members in it and bring out the benefits of brainstorming sessions in a more efficient way.

I’m building a small community of crazy folks like myself who want to explore their weird ideas and start working on them! It’s a no non-sense simple and small group of people, with fast ideation & execution as the central theme.

We’ll have one-on-one idea brainstorming sessions, road maps to execution, exercises to grow your idea muscle and finally a personal accountability partners.

Ideas often strike when you let your mind wander. So, we make sure the meetings are scheduled and short to provide the maximum outcome of the session, and importantly only if necessary. And leaving other time for you to focus on your ideas! I’ll also share the book summaries and resources that I found useful.

Is this a crazy idea? Will it work? What if it never actually works?

Honestly, I don’t know! I have made sure that I’ve done everything that is possible from my side. And if the product fails despite my efforts — So be it! It is a good lesson and like everything, it’s all about the journey! As long as I’m challenging myself and enjoying the ride, it’s a pretty worthy endeavour.

Because, in the end At least, I know I solved my problem.

It’ll be a small community of Mavericks that thrive on the ideas and execution. Since it is still in the initial MVP phase, I’m taking all the feedback and trying to improve it further.

If you’re one of those crazy people who believe in the power of ideas, go ahead and sign up! I’ll see you on the inside. Hurry up, since this is a small community and the small numbers are the essence. So the faster you sign up, the better since I’ll close the signup list once we reach the initial beta numbers.

So, come on — let’s get those ideas rolling. Join the community here!
